Friday 9th August – Windsurf **** River Orwell at Levington – sunny and hot.

Foil – 18.61 knot max , 16.85 knot ave, 9.65 knot hour, 15.47 knot mile, 34.66 km., 14.32 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Severne 1000 with a Tushingham Bolt 5.5.

My 5th windsurf foil in as many days, not bad for a pensioner:) As Friday is Maeva the Granddaughter day I wanted to get my windsurfing out of the way in the morning so with low water just before nine I headed over to Levington Marina arounf 9.30 dropping Mag off enroute to walk round to pick Maeva up. Levington looked lovely, the tide was still very low but coming in and there was some fantastic clouds with a good breeze blowing down the river, enough for me to rig my 5.5 which proved OK for the two hour plus session which turned into a bit of a gybe fest, doing about 60 and not falling in once:) I had a few short runs in front of the marina before I ventured down to Felixstowe docks, although I did fly both ways I could have down with more sail so I stayed in front of the marina slowly beating upriver past the dinghy pontoon with the kids out having a great day. Although the runs were short it was lovely being out on the beautiful Orwell, just me and a few passing yachts, I did have to stop to let a coaster pass on its way to Ipswich! With the wind going patchy I decided to head back and had a couple of lovely broad runs down wind, so had aready been nothing fast today just pleasant foiling while having fun gybing in the hot sunshine! Then it was time to pack up, shower and head for home, stopping to take a few sunflower pics.

Walk **** Felixstowe Ferry.

Had alovely afternoon with Maeva is is a real Granny’s girl at the moment and on the beach with Mag but I made a flask and we drove done to Felixstowe Ferry and walked back to the spot where we have our picnics and sat on the beach and with the tide high there were several yachts heading out. Although Maeva was getting tired she does enjoy her time on the beach playing with stones and stomping about! Then it was time to take her home after a brilliant day, bloom’n hot too and supposed to be getting hotter:(
